A special party has been organised for orphans as part of celebrations marking the 51st Birthday of the Governor of Niger State, Mohammed Umaru Bago.
The celebration which was held at the Government orphanage in Minna at the instance of the Permanent Secretary, Government House, Hajiya Hauwa Wali, was attended by the Wife of the Governor, Hajiya Fatima Umaru Bago and other key government officials .
Speaking at the event, the Wife of the Governor, Hajiya Fatima Umaru Bago specifically appreciated the Permanent Secretary, Government House for her foresight in organising such an event.
Also speaking,the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, Hajiya Hadiza Mohammed Shiru expressed delight with the event which she said will give the children a sense of belonging and used the forum to request for the repair of their bus.
One of the Orphans, Jummai Abdullahi, who spoke on behalf of others, described the Governor as a shinning example of kindness and compassion,and appreciated him for making a difference in their lives.
The Wife of the Governor and her entourage took to the dance floor with the Children in celebration after the cutting of the birthday cake.
The train moved to the School of pupils with special needs to celebrate with the Children with special needs, where a novelty match was played between team Bago and team Fatima which later won the match with one goal to none.
The Wife of the Governor, Hajiya Fatima Umaru Bago who acknowledged the effort of the teachers of the School, also encouraged the Children not to be deterred by their physical deficiencies.
She promised to continue to support them and consequently announced the donation of 10 bags of rice to the teachers and another 10 to the Children.
