Niger State Government has received N100 million as a redeemed pledge of the House of Representatives for the victims of the Dikko Junction tanker explosion.
The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas presented 10 cheques of N10 million each to Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago at the Niger State liaison office, Abuja.
The Governor, who was full of gratitude, said the donation is a demonstration of love, commitment, and empathy to the government and people of the State, particularly the victims of the disaster.
He assured that the donation will get to the families of the victims through the Niger State Disaster Management funds.
Earlier, the Speaker House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas explained that the donation was in fulfilment of the promise made by the House of Representatives during it condolence visit made to the Niger State government over the unfortunate fire disaster that claimed several lives and property.
He said the donation may not be sufficient, but it’s a representation of their love and concern for the people in agony.
The Speaker stressed that the House of Representatives will continue to identify with the State government and the Governor particularly in bringing succour to the people.
