The Special Adviser to Kebbi State Governor on International Donor Agencies, Dr Usman Buhari Ali Gwandu, has graciously distributed food items and reactivated Ramadan food centers in his Illelah community in Gwandu Local Government Area of Kebbi state.
Ali Gwandu, who is also the Gamjin Gwandu, distributed a total of 600 cartons of pasta (spaghetti) alongside bags of millet for making iftar pap (kunu), under his GAMJIN GWANDU NA KAURAN GWANDU initiative.
“These were distributed to community members, relatives, friends, as well as other well wishers as a gesture and symbol of togetherness during this ramadan period and beyond,” he said.
The aide also supported 100 indigent from all the 10 wards of Gwandu Local Government Area with JAMB forms and other logistics support for the registration.
The special adviser said he had been providing several supports in community development and empowerment under his foundation.
He noted that he purchased transformer cables, provided cost of installation and protective materials worth N3 million to replace the stolen cables for the transformer situated at Ilellah community in Marafa ward of Gwandu local government area.
“The transformer provides electricity supply to several communities, including Illelah, Baraku, Masallaci Babba (Central Mosque), and Dutsin Government Day.
“In addition, through the first community radio station I established in Gwandu, HASKE COMMUNITY FM RADIO 89.1, the first Gamjin Gwandu and Shettiman Garin Gwandu, Hon. Usman Buhari Ali Gwandu sponsored the daily call to prayer for breaking iftar and airing of Ramadan tafsir conducted in Gwandu Central Mosque.
“A gesture I dedicated to my parents, Alhaji Muhammad Buhari Ali (Majidadin Garin Gwandu) and my late mother, Hajiya Halimatu (Yar’dubu) Muhammadu Shayau, who died 12 years ago, precisely on 7th March 2013 in Birnin Kebbi,” he said.
While praying for Allah’s mercy and blessings in the holy month, Dr. Ali Gwandu called on youth to fear Allah and desist from vandalising public property.
“Besides the risk involved, such acts constitute both public nuisance, bring communities backward, and are a serious crime against communities,” he noted.
The governor’s aide also called for prayers and support for the administration of Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris, Kauran Gwandu, which according to him, has performed beyond expectations in less than two years.
He stressed that the gestures were to enable him gain blessings of the Almighty Allah in this holy period, to demonstrate his unreserved commitments in promoting and supporting the Kauran Gwandu administration in consolidating gains of the administration, as well as supporting the local government commitments.
Dr. Ali Gwandu also called on people to promote the concept of community policing against the backdrop of some miscreants, informants, as well as surging sects emerging to destabilise the existing peace and security enjoyed in the state.
The governor’s aide advised people to support the security agencies with credible intelligence to enable them discharge their duties diligently.
Responding on behalf of residents in the affected areas, the visibly elated District Head of Dalijan under Gwandu local government area and a resident in the affected communities, Alhaji Almustapha Abdullahi, prayed to Allah for blessings and protection for the philanthropist.
While calling on other people to emulate the kind gesture, Dr Ali Gwandu, described the philanthropist as a God-sent and liberator.
