Members of defunct Congress for Progressives Change (CPC) in Kebbi State and close associates of immediate past Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, SAN, have collectively pitched a tent with Gov. Nasir Idris of Kebbi.

They made their position known during a general meeting organised by Kebbi State Stakeholders of the former CPC bloc in APC held at the Presidential Lodge in Kebbi on Sunday.

Some of these politicians include; Director, National Assembly, Dr Hali Bala Jikan Daudu, Alhaji Abubakar Ardo, Alhaji Bashar Matawalle, Shafi’u Zauro, Barrister Shehu Marshal and Alhaji Abubakar Gari-Malam, Managing Director, Sokoto River Basin Development Authority.

Others are; Aminu K Shamaki, Alhaji Musa Danmalaikin-Kabi, Abubakar Sadiq, Atiku Bunu-Jega and Alhaji Faruk Dankani among others.

They described the event as historic for Kebbi State and Nigeria as a whole, assuring that what they benefited from the governor in less than two was far greater than eight years of their former boss.

The speakers insisted that they resolved to be part of Kauran Gwandu’s move a second term bid due to the rapid development being witnessed across the state.

They explained that the essence of the gathering was to affirm their commitment and support to APC at all levels.

The politicians recalled that in 2011 even though they had no money and no government., yet, they were able to produce over 12 million votes for President Muhammadu Buhari.

According to them, all members of defunct CPC are in support of Gov. Nasir Idris of Kebbi as well as President Bola Tinubu, assuring that they are not in support of those who are agitating to defect to Social Democratic party (SDP).

Speaking at the event, Gov. Idris recalled that no single individual supported CPC in the state like him in view of the calibre of people that constituted the party then.

“This because the calibre of people in the party were people of proven character who have the interest of their people at heart. What I have done to them was not in any way meant to get something out of it but to assist in achieving the desire of our people.

“Unknown to me, one day, I will reap the dividends of this labour, I have no doubt that power only comes from God Almighty, nobody will say that he is the one who paved the way for me to become the state governor but it was the will of God Almighty,” he said.

The governor said all stakeholders of APC in the Northwest met yesterday, Saturday in Kaduna and collectively agreed to support President Bola Tinubu come 2027.

According to him, Kebbi has no reason not to support the presidential ambition of Mr President in view of series of developmental projects he brought to Kebbi.

The governor appreciated the organisers of the programme and assured his administration’s readiness to continue with the good work he had already started for the good people of Kebbi State.

He then urged members of other political parties in the state to follow the footstep of the incumbent PDP senators in the state and join APC for the development of Kebbi state

The governor listed some of the projects to include; 1068km Sokoto-Badagry Super Highway, where Kebbi would enjoy large potion of the project more than any other benefiting states and Koko-Dabai road which had been lingering for long among others.

Idris noted with satisfaction that his administration had brought positive development to the state, promising that more projects were in the pipeline.

“You have no party other than APC, you must do everything possible to support it to succeed. Recently all the three Senators from Kebbi State have defected to APC, this is a sign of success and sign of hope.

“It is my utmost believe that the votes for APC in 2027 from Kebbi State will double the votes the party received in 2023 general elections,” he assured.

In his speech, the APC Chairman in the state, Alhaji Abubakar Kana-Zuru cautioned those who choose to be with the governor against double standard.

He insisted that whoever promised to support President Bola Tinubu and Gov. Idris in 2027 should do so whole heatedly without mixing loyalty.

The chairman stressed the need for absolute and undiluted loyalty and support to the governor to actualise his political ambition and that of Mr President come 2027.
