Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago is to reconstruct the Dr. Idris Ibrahim Kuta Primary Healthcare Centre to serve as the first Primary Healthcare training centre in Nigeria.
The Governor stated this during the inauguration of 20 Level 2 Primary Healthcare facilities spread across 16 local government areas in the state .
He said all the necessary facilities needed for a good healthcare training centre will be provided, urging all health development partners to endeavour to use the centre for training when completed.
Speaking on the newly constructed Level 2 Primary Healthcare facilities, the farmer Governor said 100 ambulances and solar power system as alternative source of power supply to all the facilities.
He revealed that the State government is discussing with different partners to train Doctors and provide exchange programmes to improve their efficiency, as well as provide telemedicine facilities in all the healthcare centres to reduce pressure on secondary healthcare facilities.
The Governor further disclosed that a housing estate of 50 houses is under construction to serve as doctors quarters as part of his determination to improve on the health sector.
The Governor also inaugurated the pharmagrade warehouse built in collaboration between the Federal and Niger State government as well as Global fund.
