The Nigeria Union of Journalists NUJ Niger State Council has congratulated Hon. Danjuma Abdul Masu, on his appointment as the pioneer Chairman of the newly established Niger State Sports Commission.
In a Statement issued on behalf of the Union, the State Secretary of NUJ Comrade Usman Chiji, said the appointment was well deserved.
He described Hon Danjuma Masu as a Sports philanthropist and administrator who has been contributing a lot to the development of sports in the State.
The NUJ applauded the new Chairman of the Sports Commission for his age long sponsorship of various tournaments aimed at discovering young talents from the grassroots.
Comrade Usman Chiji expressed the Union’s confidence in the ability of Hon Danjuma Masu to reposition the Sports industry to enable Niger State compete with states with highly rated athletes in various games.
The Union urged the Chairman to come up with strategies to revive some of the notable games that had previously placed the State in the world map of sports but were hardly seen or heard of now.
The statement commended Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago, for considering Hon Danjuma Masu fit for the appointment, describing it as a square peg in a square hole.
The State Council of NUJ then assured Hon Danjuma Masu of excellent working relationship with the hope of stronger partnership and collaboration for sports development in the State.
