The management of Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University, Lapai (IBBUL), has issued a strong warning to students against participating in any planned protest over the ongoing closure of the institution.
In a statement released on Monday, the university management said it became aware of a social media post, particularly on Facebook, calling on students to converge at the Niger State Government House in Minna to protest the situation.
The statement described the proposed protest as unauthorized and unlawful, stressing that any student found engaging in such activity would face serious disciplinary action, including possible expulsion.
“Participation in such activities is not only unauthorized, but also unlawful and stands in direct violation of the rules and regulations governing student conduct at the institution,” the statement read in part.
The management emphasized that no excuse would be entertained from any student who defies the directive, adding that disciplinary measures would be applied without hesitation.
Students were reminded that the Students’ Union Government (SUG) and other recognized channels are the appropriate platforms for addressing grievances and engaging with university authorities.
The statement also urged students to rely solely on official communication channels for accurate information and to disregard unofficial posts or groups that do not represent the collective interest of the student body.
“Let us continue to uphold the values that make IBBUL a great institution. Together, we will overcome this phase responsibly and united,” the management added.
The university warned that any student who chooses to ignore this cautionary directive does so at their own risk.
