The Kebbi State Government has announced the creation of Sarandosa District in Maiyama Local Government Area and approved the appointment of two new District Heads.
This was disclosed in a statement signed by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alhaji Garba Umar Dutsinmari, and made available to newsmen in Birnin Kebbi on Wednesday.
According to the statement, the newly created Sarandosa District, with its headquarters in Sarandosa, was carved out of the present Sarkin Kudun Maiyama District. It comprises five village areas: Gubba, Sarandosa, Acikaratu Ubandawaki, Acikaratun Dodo, and Tsalibi.
Dutsinmari explained that the creation of the district became necessary due to the rapid expansion of Maiyama Local Government Area.
Dr. Faruk Abdullahi Maiyama has been appointed as the District Head of Sarandosa and will hold the title of Sarkin Gabas of Sarandosa.
Meanwhile, the existing Maiyama District, with its headquarters in Maiyama, retains the name and title of Sarkin Kudun Maiyama and now comprises Dangaladıman Maiyama, Yariman Maiyama, Giwatazo, Kurya, Rafintofa, Zara Birni, and Idiga village heads.
Haliru Haruna Maiyama has been appointed as the new District Head of Maiyama District with the title of Sarkin Kudun Maiyama.
