President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has overhauled the leadership of the Federal Character Commission (FCC), appointing former House of Representatives member Ayo Hulayat Omidiran as the new Executive Chairman.
Omidiran replaces Dr. Muheeba Dankaka, whose tenure was overshadowed by controversy, signaling a new chapter for the Commission.
In a strategic mix of fresh faces and familiar figures, Tinubu appointed Mohammed Musa as Secretary and retained Ogun State’s Kayode Oladele—also a former lawmaker—who briefly served as Acting Chairman earlier this year.
The President also renewed the mandates of key commissioners from Jigawa, Kebbi, Osun, and Lagos states, while introducing a diverse list of 30 new commissioners representing states and the FCT.
The new lineup spans a wide political and professional spectrum, featuring former lawmakers, technocrats, union leaders, and seasoned administrators. They include Obina Oriaku (Abia), Dora Ebong (Akwa Ibom), Victor Sabor Edoror (Edo), Bobboi Bala Kaigama (Taraba), and Solomon Ayuba Dagami (FCT), among others.
Observers say the appointments reflect a calculated balance between continuity and change—aimed at restoring credibility to the FCC while ensuring experienced hands remain at the helm.
