A wave of emotions filled Kontagora on Wednesday as Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago joined family members, political associates, religious leaders, and residents of Niger North for the 7-day prayer in honour of the late Senator Barrister Ibrahim Musa.
The solemn gathering, held at the family residence of the deceased, was led by the Chairman of the Council of Ulamas in Kontagora, Khalifa Sabiu Umar. It brought together an impressive mix of dignitaries, community elders, and ordinary citizens, united by shared grief and respect for a man they described as a principled and service-driven leader.
Speaking at the event, Governor Bago praised the late Senator’s humility, diligence, and unwavering dedication to public service. He recalled Musa’s remarkable contributions during his tenure in the 7th Senate from 2011 to 2015, representing Niger North Senatorial District. “Senator Musa was a man of the people. He brought intellect, passion, and integrity to the Senate, ensuring the voice of his constituents was heard at the national stage,” the governor said.
Governor Bago urged the bereaved family to take solace in the fact that the late lawmaker lived a life worthy of emulation, leaving behind a legacy of selfless service and faith in God. “We pray Almighty Allah grants him Jannatul Firdaus and strengthens the family to bear this irreparable loss,” he added.
The late Senator Musa was not only a respected politician but also a seasoned barrister whose legal career spanned several decades before venturing fully into politics. In the Senate, he was known for championing policies that promoted infrastructural development, education, and youth empowerment in Niger State and beyond.
The prayer session also featured Quranic recitations and special supplications for the repose of his soul. Attendees took turns offering words of comfort to the family, describing him as a bridge-builder who earned the trust and admiration of both political allies and opponents.
For the people of Niger North, Barrister Ibrahim Musa’s passing marks the end of an era — but his work, values, and legacy will continue to inspire.
