Traditional and religious leaders in Kontagora Emirate have pledged stronger collaboration with the Niger State Government in efforts to address insecurity affecting parts of the state.
The commitment came during Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago’s homage visit to the Sarkin Sudan of Kontagora at his palace, where discussions centered on the role of community leadership in restoring peace and protecting lives and property.
Speaking on behalf of the Emirate, the Madawakin Kontagora, Alhaji Aminu Ahmad, assured the governor of their readiness to work hand in hand with his administration, noting that peace and security remain a collective responsibility.
The Chairman, Council of Ulamas, Khalifa Sabiu Umar, praised the governor’s developmental initiatives and support for religious activities, which he said have helped foster unity and peaceful coexistence in the state. He promised sustained prayers and unwavering support from the religious community for the success of the administration.
Governor Bago, while addressing the gathering, emphasized the critical role of traditional rulers as custodians of grassroots security.
He urged them to be proactive in monitoring activities within their domains and assured them of continuous government backing in the fight against insecurity.
The visit ended with a special prayer session for the Emir, the Emirate, Niger State, and Nigeria as a whole.
