Niger State governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, has called on all residents of the state to be religiously tolerant and work together in the spirit of love and mutual respect to bring about the desired growth and development
The governor stated this during the 114th anniversary and Thanksgiving service of the First Baptist Church Minna, where he was the special guest.
The governor, who was represented by the Deputy Speaker, Niger State House of Assembly, Mrs. Afiniki Eunice Dauda maintained that there is no limit to the progress that can be achieved when there is religious tolerance among the people.
He congratulated the leadership and members of the First Baptist Church Minna on the 114th anniversary, saying the Church is a testimony of God’s grace, and it has become a beacon of light and hope to many.
The governor called on them to build stronger interfaith harmony through love, honesty, and service to humanity.
He enjoined Christians in the state to continue to support his administration and reassured them of more inclusive governance.
The Emir of Minna, Alh. Umar Faruk Bahago, represented by the Kauran Minna, Mr. Peterson Kaura appreciated all Christians in his domain for always exhibiting good character and being peaceful while urging them to sustain it.
The presiding pastor of First Baptist Church Minna, Rev. Dr. Odadeyi, the representative of the President, Niger/Kebbi Baptist Conference, among other clergy, commended the farmer governor for his love for Christians in the state and encouraged him to deepen it.
In their separate remarks, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Livestock and Fisheries, Dr. Jonathan Wasa; Special Adviser to the farmer governor on media and strategy, Jonathan Vatsa; and the Coordinator, Christian Affairs, Lawrence Mohammed Isa, applauded farmer governor Umaru Bago for his remarkable achievements across all sectors and called on Christians to continue to support his administration.
The Nigerian Christian Youths in Politics, Niger State Chapter, used the forum to endorse farmer Governor Umaru Bago for a second term in office in recognition of his inclusive style of governance.
The governor was presented with an outstanding leadership award in recognition of his commitment and passion towards the New Niger agenda and the Christians in the state.
The Emir of Minna was also honoured with the outstanding fatherly award for his fatherly role in society.
