Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago of Niger State has met with Brazil’s Vice President, Geraldo Alckmin, to deepen agricultural collaboration under the state’s flagship initiative, Niger Foods.
The meeting, which took place on the sidelines of the Brazil–Nigeria Business Forum, focused on leveraging Brazil’s globally acclaimed expertise in agro-allied innovations to transform Niger State into a hub of modern agriculture.
Governor Bago highlighted Niger State’s unique potential, noting that as Nigeria’s largest state by landmass, it possesses both the space and the vision to drive large-scale food production.
He emphasized that the state’s comprehensive agricultural blueprint aligns closely with Brazil’s proven model of harnessing technology, mechanization, and research to achieve food security and export competitiveness.
“Brazil’s remarkable journey in agro-allied development is a source of inspiration,” Governor Bago stated. “Niger State is ready to partner, learn, and adapt these innovations to boost our productivity, create jobs, and contribute significantly to Nigeria’s food sufficiency drive.”
The Governor’s engagement with Vice President Alckmin marks another step in Niger State’s push to attract international partnerships, build resilient agricultural value chains, and position the state as a leader in Nigeria’s food revolution.
Accompanying the Farmer Governor is Distinguished Senator Sani Musa, senator representing Niger East Senatorial District of Niger State and Executive Chairman of Niger Foods LTD Chief Sammy Adigun.
