Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, has expressed satisfaction with the ongoing remodelling of the IBB Specialist Hospital, Minna.
The governor, who inspected the expansion works at the hospital, commended the contractors for the quality of the job done.
Bago reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to revamping the health sector to ensure citizens have access to quality healthcare services.
He recalled that his administration had earlier declared a state of emergency in the health sector, which led to rigorous renovations, reconstructions, and remodelling of health institutions across the state.
The IBB Specialist Hospital is undergoing total remodelling, with several sections including the Emergency/Accident Unit, General Outpatients Department, Intensive Care Unit, Doctors’ Call Rooms, Nurses’ Stations, and VIP Units already renovated and equipped with modern medical facilities.
The project also introduced a multispecialty clinic patients’ waiting area, three additional consulting rooms for doctors, as well as the conversion and expansion of the ENT unit into an intensive care unit.
Similarly, the emergency unit and VIP wards have been remodelled and equipped, alongside the construction of two semi-detached two-bedroom doctors’ quarters, a 42,000-litre overhead water tank, and the reactivation of an additional motorized borehole.
Other interventions include the procurement of an Elizer machine for blood screening as recommended by the Nigerian National Blood Services, a new 100 KVA generator for the NNPC multipurpose diagnostic center, and a 300 KVA transformer, among other machines.
