Former Kaduna State Governor, Malam Nasir El-Rufai, has expressed appreciation for the warm reception he received during a two-day visit to Owerri, Imo State.
According to a statement by his Media Adviser, Muyiwa Adekeye, El-Rufai said the purpose of his trip was to deepen engagements for national unity and progress, noting that the objective was achieved given the positive and welcoming attitude he encountered.
“Owerri has been a great visit. We were well-received everywhere we went. From religious institutions to engagements with stakeholders, political associates and the traditional institution, it has been a consistent pattern of welcome and openness,” the statement quoted him as saying.
The former governor commended the hospitality shown by various institutions and personalities, describing it as an exemplary gesture of national unity.
He particularly thanked the Catholic Archdiocese of Owerri for inviting him to the 2025 Odenigbo Lecture, and the Anglican Diocese of Egbu for hosting him at their women’s conference. He also appreciated His Highness, Eze Stephen Kemjika Agumanu of Nekede, for his hospitality.
El-Rufai further acknowledged the support of political leaders, including former Anambra State Governor, Peter Obi, who attended an interactive session despite not being in good health.
“Owerri has been kind and open, and we have enjoyed the time, leaving with great memories,” the statement added.
