The Niger State Pilgrims Welfare Board has fixed N8.5 million as the deposit for the 2026/1447 Hajj fare for intending pilgrims from the state.
The Executive Secretary of the Board, Sheikh Muhammad Awwal Aliyu, disclosed this during a meeting, explaining that the decision aligns with the recent directive of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), which pegged the minimum deposit at N8.5 million.
Sheikh Aliyu revealed that NAHCON allocated 5,156 seats to Niger State for the exercise.
He stressed that intending pilgrims must possess an E-passport before making payments, noting that the E-passport number would serve as the payment narration.
He added that evidence of payment (teller) should be submitted to the respective Area Pilgrims Welfare Officers (APWOs).
According to him, payments are to be made through Taj Bank and other designated banks. He further emphasized that the Board will conduct thorough health screenings at both local government and state levels to ascertain the eligibility of intending pilgrims.
The Executive Secretary assured that the Board will provide detailed guidelines and support to assist pilgrims through the registration and payment process, adding that the aim is to ensure that all intending pilgrims are well-informed before embarking on the spiritual journey.
The Board urged intending pilgrims to stay updated by following its phone-in radio programmes across the state and official social media platforms. It also warned that no deposit below N8.5 million will be accepted.
