Niger State governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, has presented a new 40-Seater Bus to Niger Tornadoes Football Club to enable it to address logistical issues
The governor made the presentation at the Government House Minna, where he again reiterated that his administration will continue to support Sports in the State.
Governor Bago also received the State Contingent of the recently concluded 9th edition of the National Youth games held in Asaba, Delta State and congratulated the athletes for their performance at the sporting event where they emerged 13th overall.
He equally promised to honour the athletes and officials at a later date.
Chairman, Niger State Sports Commission, Danjuma Abdullahi Masun who received the Bus on behalf of the team commended the governor for redeeming his pledge adding that, the governor’s gesture will help in solving logistics problems facing the team while also reiterating that the move will also boost the morale of the players.
He described the Governor’s commitment to sporting activities in the State as remarkable saying, the support of the governor to the State contingent of the 9th National Youth games will continue to encourage athletes in giving their best for the State.
Niger State team finished 13th overall at the just concluded 9th National Youth Games with a total of 11 medals where it got gold in handball, weightlifting, boxing, and scrabble.
The team also won 2 silver medals in weightlifting, one in taekwondo and Judo, while it grabbed 3 bronze medals in tennis, kickboxing and scrabble.
