Niger State House of Assembly has confirmed the appointment of Nasiru Muazu as the Chairman of the state judicial Service Commission.
The House also confirmed the appointments of Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Kigera, Adamu isah Mashegu, Barrister Adamu Usman, Barrister Waziri Abdulkadir, Isyaku fawa as members of the State Judicial Service Commission.
Presenting the report to the house during the plenary, shortly before their confirmation, chairman House standing committee on judiciary and legal matters and member representing Borgu constituency Abdulrahman Bala Gambo said the nominees were screened to ascertain their eligibility and qualification for the appointment.
He said the curriculum vitae and the credentials of the nominees were screened, efficient answers were provided for many of the questions asked, the nominees were therefore found worthy of the appointment.
Similarly, the lawmakers also passed into law a bill to establish a Housing Scheme for the State judicial Officers.
The bill which is a private member bill was sponsor by member representing Borgu Constituency and chairman House standing committee on judiciary and legal matters Abdulrahman Bala Gambo.
Presenting the report the lawmaker noted that the Housing Scheme Law would provide personal homes to the judicial officers in the state
Bala Gambo explained that the law would also serve as good motivation to resist enticements of all forms capable of compromising the morality of their judicial functions.
The lawmaker pointed out that the law will contribute to promoting judicial independence and reduce all forms of corruption among judicial officers.
The house after presentation of the report resolve to committee of whole were the bill was read clause by clause, chapter by chapter.
The Speaker Barrister Abdulmalik Sarkin Daji read the bill the third time and pass it into law.
