The Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA) in Niger State has reiterated it’s preparedness to celebrate every woman regardless their professions and status in the society.
In a press release signed by the state secretary of FIDA in Niger State Barrister Safurat Abdulkarim in commemoration of this year International Women’s Day (IWD), which took place in Minna at the weekend noted that FIDA as an association is not left out in the celebration of womanhood.
She explained that the Federation of Women Lawyers FIDA as a professional body of women legal practitioners believe that every woman is extraordinary ” no matter where she works whether home or office, she worth being celebrated”.
According to Barrister Safurat this year’s theme “inspires inclusion” calls for an action to break down barriers against women, including them in policy and decision making, challenge all stereotypes and to create an enabling environment where women are valued and respected .
She argued that women in Nigeria were yet to be where they ought to be, assuring that they will not relent until women are given equal opportunities and absolute inclusion in the society.
“For us in FIDA we shall not relent, we shall continue the struggle on fear ground, we refuse to be taken as the weak and we shall not act as the weak.
“On a final note we celebrate the strength and resilience of women around the world particularly women in Niger state who have set the pace for our struggles and we continue to uplift, empower and support each other.” she stated
Among the events to commemorate this year IWD by FIDA sensitization program and Public enlightenment as well as rally to some selected girls secondary schools in Minna.
