As the Muslim Ummah commence this year’s Ramadan fast, Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago of Niger State has advocated the need for muslims to get closer to Allah by engaging in activities that would earn them eternal reward.
In a Ramadan message signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Bologi Ibrahim, the Farmer Governor said the month of Ramadan is a special period for spiritual rejuvenation.
He noted that Ramadan which is one of the pillars of Islam comes with favour, forgiveness, and blessings from Allah to those who participate in it.
While calling on the Muslims to use the Holy month to be more committed to doing good and turn away from negative attitudes, the Governor also enjoined them to pray for leaders, peace and security in the state and across the country during Ramadan.
“This is a season that brings all Muslims closer to Allah. It is a time for spiritual growth and sober reflection. We must remain firm, honest and committed to doing good because it is a time of giving to the less privileged in other to get eternal blessings from Allah”, he said.
The Governor reminded them to take advantage of the Ramadan free food centres established by the State Government across all 25 local government areas to ease the feeding burden, especially on the less privileged.
He assured that his administration is determined to provide a better life to the people of the State and urged them to remain hopeful in the face of the present economic challenge.
While wishing all Muslims a successful Ramadan, the Farmer Governor also advised market men and women to refuse the temptation of wanting to hike the prices of goods especially food items for huge profits during the period.
