The National Executive Members of Kagara Old Students Association Kagosa is seeking the support of the community and assistance from stakeholders for the reopening of Government Science College Kagara.
It could be recalled that since the unfortunate incidence of the kidnap of staff and students of the government science college Kagara, in February 2021 the school has remained closed and the school taken over by the military as a camp.
It is over three years since the incidence and closure of the school, with total collapse of teaching and learning activities in the school leading to further decay of the already dilapidated structures in the school.
In the light of these, the national executive of Kagara old students association Kagosa is seeking collaboration, partnership and support of the Kagara emirate council and other critical stakeholders towards reopening of the school.
The national president Kagosa and permanent secretary economic affairs SSGs office Niger State Dr Idris Abdullahi legbo led other executives members of the association on a visit to kagara for an interface with the district head Mohammed saliu tanko, the education committee of area as well as other stakeholders in kagara community.
The Kagosa president Dr Idris Legbo who was speaking at the palace of the district head of kagara expressed concern on the long closure of the school despite efforts by the alumni association.
He said Kagosa has sought support and invention for the renovation of the school from some stakeholders and development partners but the closure of the school is delaying the process.
In his part the district head of kagara Mohammed saliu Tanko who appreciates Kagosa executives for their visit, maintaining that the school is the only science College in the emirate, which has given birth to notable personalities in different works of life.
The meeting which was also attended by the education committee of Kagara, resolved that a committee be set up comprising members of Kagosa, the emirate and other relevant stakeholders to come up with recommendations and modalities for possible reopening of government science college Kagara for academic activities in the next term.
Earlier, the Kagosa executives had commensurate with the emir of Kagara, Garba Guna Attahiru the second over the recent unfortunate attack Madaka and some communities in the area by bandit.
Dr. legbo and his team were received on behalf of the emir by the Tafidan Kagara Mohammed Shabideen Isah and other council members.
