The Etsu Nupe and Chairman Council Of Traditional Rulers, Niger State , His Royal highness, Alh. Dr. Yahaya Abubakar, CFR has thrown weight on efforts toward the realization of the core objectives of Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) in Niger state.
The Royal support came as the team of the Project led by the First Lady of Niger State, Hajiya Fatima Muhammed Bago was in his palace for advocacy visit .
The first Lady along with the Commissioner of Basic and Secondary Education, who is also the Chairman State Steering Committee AGILE, Hajiya Hadiza Asabe Muhammad gave the Royal Father the brief on the core objectives of the project.
The commissioner reiterated that Niger State government is committed to promoting girl child Education and provision of an all inclusive Education in the State.
In his remark, the Etsu Nupe expressed full support for the AGILE project, recognizing the importance of empowering Adolescent girls through Education.
The Royal Father also called on all the traditional rulers and the people in the region to support the project for the development of the girl child in the State.
In her keynote address, the First Lady of the State, Hajiya Fatima Muhammad Bago said the State government is ready to support any initiative that will empower the girl child to increase enrollment and reduce dropout in Schools.
While giving the overview of the project, the State Coordinator AGILE Hajiya Maimuna Ibrahim Tahir, represented by the Deputy Coordinator, Malam Salisu Danjuma noted that the project will also provide Uniforms and transport allowances to the Parents as a morale booster under the ‘Conditional Cash Transfer’ apart from constructions and renovations of more than 534 Schools in the State.
The high point of the occasion was the presentation on the AGILE project by some of Students of Secondary Schools in Bida Local Government.
