There is an indication that Doctors in Niger state may embark on a strike soon.
The strike action centres around a prolonged response to the yarnings of the Doctors on the anomalies in consequential adjustment on the discrepancies in the position given to the newly employed Doctor as against the existing ones.
A Source said many Doctors newly employed by the Niger State Ministry of Health are placed ahead of the one that have been there for many years.
“Doctors newly employed are placed on COMES 3 STEP 2 as against the accepted entering point COMES level all over the country.”
*This simply implies that a newly employed Doctor controls the ones that have been there for long without due promotion and elevation.”
“Novice on the field controls the experts, quackery and unprofessional situation in Niger State Medical sector” the source said.
The exclusive information gathered by Analystnews indicate that the State Governor Muhammad Umaru Bago has approved the consequential adjustment for the aggrieved Doctor but got stalked somewhere between the Head of Service and the Permanent Secretary office in the Ministry of Health.
The implementation order given by the governor is not carried by the people saddled with the responsibility of making things work within the medical sector.
Some of the Doctors who spoke with Analystnews reporter said the only thing that will avert the strike is when the letters of the adjustment released and made available to them.
“How embarrassing will it be to the governor to see us going on strike after approving the demand but because someone somewhere did not approve it.”
The Doctors appealed to Governor Umaru Bago and other stakeholders concerned to expedite action on the matter in order to avert the looming strike in the state medical sector.
