National Examinations Council NECO has released its 2024 Senior Secondary Certificate of Education (SSCE) results with 826,284 candidates representing 60.55% scoring five credits and above including English and Mathematics out of 1.367,736 candidates that sat for the examination.
The Registrar and Chief Executive, Professor Dantani Ibrahim Wushishi who made the announcement at the NECO headquarters in Minna, said out of the candidates that sat for the exams 702,112 were Males and 665,624 were Females.
Professor Wushishi added that a total of 1.147,597 candidates representing 83.90% scored five credits and above per irrespective of English and Mathematics, noting that a total of number of candidates with special needs is 2,267.
He explained that the number of candidates involved in various examination malpractices has reduced by 30.1% with 8,437 in 2024 against 12,030 in 2023.
NECO Registrar noted that a total of 1.376,423 representing 706,950 males and 669,473 females actually registered for the 2024 examination, adding that the results was released 55 days after the last written paper.
According to him, no fewer than 40 schools in 14 states of the federation were caught for mass cheating who will be invited to the council for discussion before appropriate sanctions will be applied while 21 supervisors in 12 states were recommended for blacklist due to poor supervision, aiding and abetting, abscondment, extortions, drunkeness, negligence.
