The Niger State Ministry of Tourism and Culture, in partnership with the Federal Ministry of Tourism has hosted World Tourism Day 2024 celebrations under the theme “Tourism and Peace.”
This year’s theme highlighted tourism’s crucial role in promoting international understanding, cultural exchange, and global peace.
The Minister of Tourism, Lola Ade-John, who delivered the welcome address emphasised tourism’s significance in fostering global understanding and peace.
She stated that Tourism breaks down cultural barriers and promotes peace, adding that the government is committed to creating an enabling environment for tourism development.
Niger State Commissioner for Tourism and Culture, Hajiya Fatima Adamu, reiterated the state’s commitment to promoting tourism as a catalyst for peace.
She added that, Niger State is proud to be at the forefront of the initiative.
Dr. Kennedy Eze, Investment Economics and Policy Advisor who delivered a special address at the world tourism day highlighted that tourism has a great potential for economic growth, peace-building, and job creation in Nigeria.

Appreciation the Federal Minister Lola Ade-John’s efforts and great contributions to Tourism and Culture development in Nigeria, the commissioner for tourism in Niger state, Hajiya Fatima Adamu presented a gift to the Minister.
The event concluded with a call to action, urging stakeholders to collaborate to harness tourism’s benefits for sustainable development in Nigeria.
