Kebbi State Government has trained over 40 surveyors on on the Utilization of Modern Survey Equipments for overall digitization of Land Administration System in the State.
Addressing the participants at the event in Birnin Kebbi on Tuesday, the Project Manager, Kebbi State Geographic Information System Agency ESV. Bashiru Sa’idu-Bakuwai said the training was meant to update the knowledge of participants.
He added that the aim of the training was to streamline the system and ensure full compliance with the global trend of using the latest survey equipment known as Global Navigation Sattalite System (GNSS).
The Project Manager described the system as a way to assist the state government in digitising the Land Administration System Functions ranging from survey, town planning, generation of Certificate of Occupancy, Assessment, Acquisition, Valuation and Compensation as well as Land transactions.
“With this new digitisation system for instance, if you apply for Land C of O you will get it within one month, this is one of the advantages in addition to boosting the internally generated revenue,” he said.
He further pointed out that the Agency was established in 2020 with a view to reducing irregularities as well as suffering of the people who applied for land.
Sa’idu-Bakuwai said the programme was initially supported by the World Bank through a Project called State Fiscal Transparency Accountability and Sustainability (SFTAS) project.
“We are still expecting another set of support from the World Bank Project called State Action on Business Enable Reform (SABER),” he added.
He commended the efforts of the present administration under the able leadership of Comrade Dr Nasir Idris for its commitment towards the actualisation of the project.
