Glowing Minds Initiatives for Human Development has trained Journalists in Niger state on how to overcome the threat of fake news, in order to curb misinformation and disinformation, menace in the state and the country at large.
The Executive Director of the Glowing Minds Initiatives for Human Development, Shamsudeen Abdulrazak during the opening ceremony the one day training held at American Corner in FUT Minna, Niger State Capital explained the negative impact and consequences of the new trending issue of first to break the news to the public without proper verification.
He stressed on the need to properly train journalists on how to identify fake news, verify sources and fact checking, as well as the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to ensure credibility and reliability.
Another resource person, Doctor Sa’adat Adetoro Salau of Federal University of Technology FUT, Minna further spoke on how to verify video on social media, YouTube Data viewer and sources of fact checking tools for journalists among others.
