Nigeria Labour Congress NLC Niger State Council says the agreement on the new minimum wage of eighty thousand naira has been signed with the government with over one point six billion naira added to workers.
This was contained in a Communique issued at the end of the State executive Council SEC meeting of the NLC held at the labour House in Minna on Friday 22nd November 2024 and signed by the State Secretary of NLC Comrade Salihu Mohammed Rijau .
The Communique said the one point six billion naira added represents an increase of up to seven hundred percent when compared to the amount added to eighteen thousand naira minimum wage to make it thirty thousand naira in 2020.
It added that, the agreement includes a clause that in January 2025, the eighty thousand naira Niger State minimum wage shall be implemented to eighty percent from the seventy percent to be paid in November and December 2024.
The Communique said the shortfall for some levels of health workers and tertiary institutions workers is to be argumented from the savings of doctored tables such that, no worker will receive less than twenty percent of what was paid in September 2024.
It said all corrections shall be within the approved lump at some point six billion naira by the governor.
The SEC in session appreciated Farmer Governor Mohammed Umar bago, deputy governor Comrade Yakubu Garba, Head of Service and Commissioner of Finance for the approval of the eighty thousand naira minimum wage.
The Communique explained that, there is room for amendment before the payment of November 2024 salaries adding that, another opportunity for amendment is there in January 2025.
The SEC in session then stated that, the Abdulkadir Kure University salary template has been adopted for all the State owned Universities.
