Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago has assured the People of Lapai Emirate that his government will complete the water project initiated by the administration of late Engr. Abdulkadir Abdullahi Kure in Lapai.
The Governor gave the assurance when he received stakeholders from Lapai Emirate led by the Emir, Alh. Umaru Bago Tafida III, on a courtesy visit at the Council chamber of Government House, Minna.
He explained that the project has been captured in the 2025 budget for completion, adding that the Women Teachers College (WTC), and the General Hospital Gulu, will also be considered for rehabilitation.
On the issue of Lapai-Gulu-Muye road, the Governor said discussions are on, for its reconstruction.
He acknowledged the Agric potential of Lapai local government, especially the southern part, as it connects to Kogi State through the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), adding that the local government is the longest among five other Council areas that have borders with the nation’s capital.
The Governor said the State is yet to explore it relationship with the FCT, but that a committee has been set up to start the process.
While describing the support of Lapai Emirate as encouraging, the former Governor promised to always attend to their issues for a better living.
Earlier, the Emir of Lapai, Alh. Umaru Bago Tafida III, who led the delegation, said their visit was to extend the profound gratitude of the Emirate for the laudable projects the State government is executing in Lapai Emirate in particular and the State in general.

He said the projects are not doubt having direct impact on the socio-economic well-being of the people.
The Emir enumerated some projects to include the asphalt overlay of Lapai -Paiko road, the recently awarded Gulu-Evuti-Gupa-Lambata road, installation of 10MVA power transformer and reactivation of the 33 power line from Paiko to Lapai among others.
He, however, requested that the State government should consider the reconstruction of the Lapai-Gulu-Muye road, completion of the Lapai water project, rehabilitation of WTC among others.
The Emir reassured the Farmer Governor of the unalloyed loyalty of the Emirate to his administration.
