Niger State Government say it is set to utilise Gurara Water falls to generate electricity.
Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago disclosed this in Gawu Babangida, headquarters of Gurara local government area when he addressed stakeholders and members of the Council in continuation of his statewide projects monitoring.
He explained that when the project takes up, the local government area will be included among the electricity generating Council areas and to enjoy its benefit.
The Governor who observed that Gurara local government is a priority area considering its potential, said his administration will ensure they are fully harnessed for their good.
He enumerated some projects to be executed in the local government in addition to the 5 km township road to institution included 5 km road in Izom, road to connect Izom and Gwagwalada, construction of Gurara games resort.
Others are N120 million worth modern trailers park, provision of potable water through partnership and a green energy park under a tripartite arrangement among others.
The Governor appreciated Niger East Senatorial District for his effective service delivery to the people of his constituency and his plans to build a mini stadium, 50-bed capacity healthcare, skills acquisition centre and many more.
Earlier, Senator representing Niger East Senatorial District, Mohammed Sani Musa said God has blessed the people of the State with a good leader who loves them and has their interest at heart.
He said in no distant time, Gurara local government will wear a new look, as the road projects will be completed and solar-power streetlights installed.
The Senator enjoined the people to reciprocate the gesture by supporting the administration to ensure success.
The Deputy Speaker, Niger State House of Assembly, Afiniki Dauda, and the Council Chairman, Abdul-Halim Abubakar in their separate remarks thanked the farmer Governor for his visit to the Council area and the various meaningful projects he is executing for them.
Former Commissioner for Water Resources and Dam Development and an elder statesman in the local government area, Alh. Abubakar Azozo on behalf of the Council area, appealed to the farmer Governor for the construction of Wakpe-Leifu-Boku road, Dikko-Kabo-Shako road, bridges in some communities.
He also requested for the completion of the abandon road project that would benefit Izom, Gawu and Lambata communities which was initiated during late Engr. Abdulkadir Abdullahi Kure’s regime, and it is at 90% completion.
The Governor had earlier inaugurated a reactivated transformer in Lambata that has been vandalised four years ago, with a call on the people to protect it.
