Niger State Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago says the State Government is including registration of farmers and political appointees in its Health Insurance Scheme to ensure health services for all citizenry.
The Governor Stated this when he received development partners from the Global Alliance for Vaccine Immunisation GAVI, UNICEF and WHO who were at the Niger State Governors Lodge for a close out ceremony for the GAVI supported PHC System strengthening project in Niger State.
Governor Umaru Bago said farmers,political appointees and nomads will be registered through the Ministry of Nomadic and Pastorial affairs and indicated that all Civil servants and political appointees will also be registered with over 250,000 already on board.
The Governor also reiterated his administration’s willingness to continue with child birth registration in line with the goals and objectives of the UNICEF’s program.
He also revealed that the drone vaccine delivery project will be launched in 6 months time, to enable the provision of digital medicine to the riverine and remote areas across the State.
The Chief of Child Protection UNICEF, Ibrahim Sesay described birth registration programme as fundamental to every child which is why 100 percent birth registration was achieved in 2024 with registration of over 400,000 children under the age of 5 while disclosing that in 2025, newborn children will be registered and given birth certificates and be integrated with National Identity Numbers.
The Chief of Health UNICEF Nigeria Dr. Shyam Pathak admitted that the 3 year programmes in the State has helped tremendously in reducing mortality and morbidity including enhanced access to quality health services to the vulnerable.
