ADOLESCENT GIRLS INITIATIVES FOR LEARNING AND EMPOWERMENT INTENSIFIES ENROLLMENT DRIVE CAMPAIGN IN NIGER STATE

The Niger State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, Niger State Universal Basic Education Board, NSUBEB, in Collaboration with Adolescent Girls Initiatives for Learning and Empowerment, AGILE has taken its enrollment Drive Campaign to Bosso and Paikoro Local Government Area in Zone B.

The Campaign which was held at the two Council is aimed at boosting enrollment rates and to sensitize key education stakeholders on the government’s commitment to ensuring access to quality education for all eligible children, especially girl child.

The state Commissioner of Basic and secondary education Doctor Hadiza Asabe Mohammed, reiterated the unwavering commitment of the present administration to enhancing educational infrastructure, curriculum, teacher welfare and training, as well as the recruitment of more teachers and professionalism to enhance Basic and Secondary Education in the State.

Represented by the Permanent Secretary of the ministry Jonathan Wasa, the commission stressed the importance of collective effort in ensuring every child in the State has access to quality  education, saying the future of the children lies in education.

Chairman Niger State Universal Basic Education, NSUBEB, Mallam, Ibrahim Baba Mohammed emphasized that education is a necessity, not just a right, and encouraged all to support the enrollment Drive Campaign Programme.

The State Coordinator of Adolescent Girls Initiatives for Learning and Empowerment, AGILE, Hajiya Maimuna Ibrahim Tahir urged parents to enroll their children’s especially the girls to school in order secure a better future for them.

The State Coordinator of AGILE advised parents to desist from sending their children for Hawking during the school hours, in order to give them sound knowledge at the early age.

In a separate Goodwill message, the District Head of Maikunkele Alhaji Sulaiman Abdullahi Dada and the District Head of Paiko, Alhaji Mansur Ibrahim, charged all Community and Religious Stakeholders to enrol their children in public schools, highlighting the significance of education in building a brighter future for their children and the community.

They urged parents to take advantage of the opportunities provided by the present administration to give their children quality education.

The Enrollment Drive Campaign and Sensitization Programme is one of the many initiatives by  AGILE to address the challenge of out-of-school children in Niger State.

The event was well-attended by Stakeholders, including parents, community leaders, religious organizations, NGOs, and the private sector.
