Former Vice president Atiku Abubakar has condemned the act of using live ammunition on citizens peacefully protesting against bad governance.
Atiku Abubakar who made this known called President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as a matter of urgency demonstrates true leadership by implementing the demands of Nigerians.
He maintained that those engaging in looting and destruction of public and private property must be isolated and prosecuted according to the law urging, the international community to closely monitor the situation.
Atiku Abubakar however, reminded the government to advise the government to ensure a safe environment where citizens can exercise their rights to protest without fear.
He admonished the protesters to exercise their right to peaceful protest and reject any form of violence for the growth and development of the country.
According to him indulging in destruction of property undermines legitimate protests and play into the hands of those who oppose their right to protest.
He noted that attacking innocent protesters could lead to transforming peaceful demonstrations into chaos.
