The punishment prescribed in the extant NDLEA Act is a maximum sentence of life imprisonment. A Federal High Court in Abuja has granted bail to a former Minister of Aviation Hadi Sirika, his daughter, and two others in the sum of ₦100m with two sureties. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had arraigned Sirika alongside his daughter, Fatima, before Justice Sylvanus Oriji of the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Maitama, on Thursday. The House of Representatives has directed the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to immediately halt the implementation of the cybercrime levy introduced by the apex bank in compliance with the provisions of the Cybercrime Act. Niger State Government has received 1,437.5 metric tons of assorted food commodities from the National Strategic Reserve through the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) for the vulnerable people in the State.
