Brides and the bridegrooms of mass wedding for 300 couples in Kebbi State have started receiving furniture and other essential materials from the State Government.
The Kebbi State Government in collaboration with NANAS Foundation, a pet project of the Governor’s Wife, Hajiya Nafisa Nasir Idris is sponsoring a mass wedding of 300 couples drew from different parts of the state.
The Hon. Commissioner for Information and Culture, Alhaji Yakubu Ahmed-BK disclosed this at the distribution ceremony in Birnin Kebbi on Thursday.
He assured that this year’s wedding would be different from that of last year, adding that the distribution exercise followed early receipt of the items, hence the commencement of the distribution exercise.
While applauding the efforts of both Kebbi State Government and NANAS Foundation for the wonderful initiative, the commissioner appealed to them to sustain the tempo for the good of all.
The Secretary, Transportation Committee, Alhaji Kabiru Alaramma, who is also the Acting Chairman, described the mass wedding as a source of blessing to the society and the state at large.
“The mass wedding titled: “Auren Gata” by His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Kebbi State, Comrade Dr Nasir Idris is a blessing to the state. We have already started the distribution of wedding materials to beneficiaries,” he said.
Alaramma listed the items to include; set of beds, mattresses, set of chairs, and wedding gowns for both males and females among others.
According to him, the mass wedding, which is slated for Feb. 27, 2025 at Emir of Gwandu’s palace is expected to record huge a success.
On his part, Hon. Safiyanu Garba-Bena, former Head of Service and member, transport committee recalled that a similar mass wedding was organised by the state government and NANAS Foundation last year
He advised the couples to make judicious use of the items to enjoy a smooth married life.
