Niger State Governor, Farmer Mohammed Umaru Bago, has congratulated the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, on his emergence as the new National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Bologi Ibrahim, Governor Bago described the emergence of Prof. Yilwatda as both “delightful and strategic,” adding that the appointment signals a new phase of purposeful leadership for the ruling party.
The farmer governor said Prof. Yilwatda is “a round peg in a round hole,” citing his rich background in academics, technocracy, and politics as assets that will help reposition the APC ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Governor Bago expressed confidence in the new party chairman’s capacity to unite party members, consolidate APC’s hold on power at the national level, and win more states in the coming elections.
He further assured Prof. Yilwatda of the unwavering support of the Niger State Government to ensure his success in steering the affairs of the party.
Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda was confirmed as APC National Chairman through a voice vote by members of the National Executive Council (NEC) during a meeting at the Presidential Villa, Abuja. The event also witnessed the swearing-in of the new chairman, which Governor Bago attended.
