FMC BIDA STAFF AWARDS CEREMONY: A CELEBRATION OF EXCELLENCE

Federal Medical Centre Bida has recognize and reward outstanding members of its staff for hardwork, dedication and commitment to excellence.

The 2024 edition of the award event was held at the hospital premises on Saturday, 25th January, 2025.

The programme which aims at promoting a culture of excellence and recognition was well attended by staff members, management and special guests.

The atmosphere was filled with excitement and the anticipation to hear the announcement of the awardees was evident.

The awards programme recognized staff members in various categories (doctors, nurses, pharmacists, administrators and several other categories).

The awardees were chosen through a rigorous selection process, which involved nominations, shortlisting and final selection.

In his welcome address, Dr Abubakar Usman, Medical Director of the hospital, emphasized the importance of recognizing and rewarding staff members who have demonstrated exceptional performance and dedication to the organization’s vision, mission and core values.

“We are glad to recognize and celebrate the outstanding achievements of our staff,” he said. “Their hard work, commitment and passion for excellence have been instrumental in driving our organization’s success and we are grateful for their contributions.”

The highlight of the event was the presentation of certificates of recognition with cash gifts to the awardees who were overwhelmed with emotion as they received their awards.

It is note worthy that two of the awardees were outstanding, being winners of the award for their categories for two consecutive times (years 2023 and 2024); these are Dr Alexander Gomna (medical consultants category) and Mr. Aliu Iliyasu (Internal Audit category). Also notable was the presentation of a posthumous award to Dr Isah Baba Muhammad of surgery department who passed on in the first week of January, 2025, for being most outstanding in the Resident Doctors category in 2024.

In her appreciation speech, Nurse Nwokeocha Prisca Fatima, representative of the awardees, expressed joy and gratitude to the management for recognizing their efforts which she said is a motivation to do more and made a promise on behalf of the awardees to work harder for the upliftment of service delivery to patients of the hospital.

The event also featured cutting of cake by the management team supported by the special guests, this was to mark the hospital’s celebration of excellent services and her outstanding staff.

This was followed by goodwill messages by some special guests; ACP Abiodun Bakare, Area Commander, Zone A, Nigerian Police Force, Bida. ACC Chigbo D. Ukuta, Unit Commander, FRSC, Bida Unit Command and Comrade Abdulrasheed Abdulkareem, General Manager, Radio Nigeria – Power FM, Bida.

Also present at the occasion was Mr. Abubakar Mohammed, Manager, the Young Electricals, Bida.

The time of musical entertainment and dance by the awardees and other members of staff was followed by refreshments.

The staff get-together and awards programme was a resounding success, with staff members praising the management for its commitment to recognizing and rewarding excellence.
