Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, has inaugurated a newly constructed Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) complex in Kontagora, built by the Chairman of Kontagora Local Government Council, Alhaji Shehu Pawa.
Speaking at the event, Governor Bago commended the council chairman for the initiative, describing the facility as a dividend of democracy that would create jobs, boost local businesses, and stimulate socio-economic activities in the area.
The governor announced a donation of ₦50 million to the GSM Association in Kontagora to strengthen their operations, while also disclosing that the lawmaker representing Kontagora/Wushishi/Mariga/Mashegu Federal Constituency, Abdullahi Idris Garba, will provide a vehicle to the association to ease logistics.
Vice Chairman of the GSM Association, Kontagora branch, Sanusi Umar, welcomed the project, noting that members had operated for years without a befitting business structure.
