Kebbi State Governor, Comrade Dr Nasir Idris, Kauran Gwandu, has been conferred with an award of excellence by Jada Computer Academy for his administration’s strides in promoting education and youth empowerment.

In a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Ahmed Idris, the award was presented during the graduation ceremony of 300 beneficiaries of the academy’s Digital Literacy Training Programme, held in Argungu Local Government Area.

The statement reveals that the governor, who was represented at the event by the Commissioner for Digital Economy and Innovation, Hon. Ibrahim Muhammad Sakaba, announced a donation of N20 million — with N10 million earmarked for the academy and another N10 million for the graduating trainees.

The governor commended Jada Computer Academy for creating a platform for young people to acquire relevant digital skills and congratulated the graduands on completing their training. He encouraged them to continue learning modern digital tools and innovations such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Data Analytics, and Cybersecurity.

According to the statement, Governor Idris described digital literacy as a critical driver of economic growth, entrepreneurship, and societal transformation. He urged the graduands to apply their knowledge towards providing innovative solutions and contributing to the development of Kebbi State and Nigeria at large.

The statement also quoted the governor as reaffirming his administration’s commitment to investing in human capital, digital infrastructure, and youth development initiatives.

Also speaking at the event, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry for Digital Economy and Innovation, Alhaji Aliyu Dauda Zagga, applauded the academy for training 300 youths and assured them of the ministry’s continued support.

Earlier, the Chief Executive Officer of Jada Computer Academy and Senior Special Assistant to the Deputy Governor on New Media, Hon. Yahaya Danjada, said the academy was established to empower youths through digital education. He explained that the 300 graduands were equipped with basic digital literacy skills aimed at promoting self-reliance.

Danjada, who expressed appreciation to the Deputy Governor for his mentorship and support, appealed for support in transforming the academy’s facility into a fully equipped, solar-powered digital hub. He also emphasised the need for partnerships with government agencies, corporate organisations, and development partners to expand digital literacy across Kebbi State.

Other awardees at the event included the Deputy Governor, Sen. Umar Abubakar Tafida; Emir of Argungu, Alhaji Sama’ila Muhammad Mera; Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alhaji Abubakar Umar Dutsinmari; Managing Director of NAMA, Faruk Aliyu Yaro Enabo; and Engr. Ahmed Umar Faruk, among others.

The event also featured the presentation of awards to individuals recognised for their outstanding contributions to youth development, innovation, and community service.
