The Kebbi State Governor, Comrade Dr Nasir Idris, Kauran Gwandu has spent over N2.76 billion on Kebbi indigene students studying different courses within and outside Nigeria from inception to date.
The Commissioner for Higher Education, Hon. Isa Abubakar-Tunga, disclosed this while addressing a press conference in his office in Birnin Kebbi.
He said: “In summary, His Excellency has released more than N2.765 billion for local and international students of Kebbi State indigene studying in various higher institutions of learning around the world since inception to date.”
Abubakar-Tunga announced that the governor had recently released over N117 million for 25 students of Kebbi State indigene studying in various universities in Egypt.
The commissioner added that His Excellency had assisted in the payment of return tickets from India to Birnin Kebbi of eight students who graduated from private universities in India in the sum of N14.4 million.
“The Ministry of Higher Education remains indebted to His Excellency, Comrade Dr Nasir Idris, Kauran Gwandu. No doubt the efforts of His Excellency towards promoting academic and moral excellence in the Tertiary Education shall go into the anal of history,” he noted.
