The Kebbi State Governor, Comerade Dr Nasir Idris has appealed to the people of Kebbi South to join hands with his administration to enable him deliver the desired dividends of democracy to the area.
He stated this on Saturday at the final grand ceremony of Zuru Uhola Cultural Festival and Agricultural Show held in Zuru, Zuru Local Government Area of the state.
He said the call was necessary in view of the fact that it would aid him to execute projects that have direct bearing to the lives of common people in the area, while citing an example of reconstruction of Koko-Dabai road.
“I knew it is a Federal Government road, which I wrote severally for the revocation of the road but still awaiting response from the federal government. However, may be there are some people that are playing politics with the road,” he suspected.
The people’s governor, who expressed worry over the state of the road, said that even if it’s going to be the only project he would do for the people of Zuru Emirate, “I will ensure that I do it, so that later the Federal Government can pay me back.”
He applauded the organisers of Zuru 2024 Uhola Cultural Festival and Agricultural Show, adding that his administration was ready to promote diversification in tourism and cultural heritage .
‘We are done with Yauri Fishing Festival, now is Zuru Annual Cultural Festival, while we await Arugungu International Fishing Festival, which In Sha Allah will also be done this year,” he assured.
Dr Idris, who also received an award of excellence for facilitating an improved security situation in Southern part of Kebbi State, assured the people of Zuru Emirate that his administration would continue to beef up security to enable them return to thier farms and normal businesses.
“I do spend millions of Naira every month on security, I want to protect lives and property of my people, I promised to ensure that security challenges in the state is reduced to the barest minimum. Therefore, I need people’s support and cooperation in achieving the noble objectives,” he said.
Also speaking, the Emir of Zuru, Maj.-Gen. Muhammadu Sani Sami (rtd), Sami Gomo II, thanked the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Kebbi State Governor, Comerade Dr Nasir Idris for supporting the occasion.
“This year’s festival is unique, which showcased so many cultural heritage and it was a colourful and successful festival,” he said.
