His Excellency, the Kebbi State Governor, Comrade Dr Nasir Idris, Kauran Gwandu, has appealed to Muslims to use any available opportunity at their disposal to propagate islam.
He made the plea at the launch of an Islamic Book authored by a prominent Islamic Scholar, Sheikh Dr Turkiy Ibn Salih Almaiman in Sokoto on Monday.
Kauran Gwandu and his wife, Hajiya Zainab Nasare Nasir Idris, jointly donated N5 million during the launch.
The title of the book “ADDUA TAKOBIN MUMINI” was translated into Hausa language by Malam Bello Abubakar Nasarawa, Birnin Kebbi.
Launching the book in Sokoto, the governor announced a donated N3 million, while his wife also donated N2 million in support of the publication of the book.
Represented by Engr. Imrana Ibn Usman, Special Adviser to the Governor on Islamic Affairs, said tendered apology of the governor for his inability to attend the programme due to an official engagement abroad.
He reaffirmed the commitment of his administration towards promoting religious activities in different ramifications.
Gov. Idris enumerated such activities to include; construction of places of worship, providing support to Islamic publications, as well as extending assistance to those in need.
The governor lauded Prof. Ibrahim Mansur Sokoto as the mentor of the book translator, Malam Bello Abubakar Nasarawa for translating a book that offers prayers and supplications to the Muslim Ummah.
“Such noble Islamic initiatives are warmly welcomed by our government. Let me reiterate that we are keen to support efforts aimed at propagating Islam, hence my personal donation of N3 million to this noble cause,” he stated.
Also speaking, the governor’s wife, Hajiya Zainab Nasare Nasir Idris, represented by Malam AbdulRashid, Chairman of NASARA Foundation, presented a donation of N2 million on her behalf.
At the ceremony, the Sokoto State Governor, Dr. Ahmad Aliyu, was represented by the Commissioner for Islamic Affairs, Dr. Jabir Sani Mai Hulla, while the Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, was represented by Prof. Mansur Ibrahim Sokoto, Sarkin Malaman Sokoto.
