Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, has joined millions of well-wishers to celebrate Nigeria’s former Military President, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (IBB), on his 84th birthday.
In a goodwill message issued through his Chief Press Secretary, Bologi Ibrahim, Governor Bago described IBB as “a true patriot and a living legend” whose life has been dedicated to the service of the nation.
He noted that the former leader’s sacrifices, bravery, and commitment to Nigeria’s unity, stability, and progress remain unmatched, adding that his legacy continues to inspire generations.
Governor Bago highlighted the establishment of the IBB Presidential Library—named after his late wife, Dr. Maryam Babangida—as proof of the elder statesman’s passion for preserving history and promoting education for the benefit of Niger State, Nigeria, and beyond.
He further acknowledged Babangida’s remarkable contributions during his tenure as Nigeria’s Military President from 1985 to 1993, describing him as “a beacon of hope, a role model, and an architect of enduring policies and programmes that shaped Nigeria’s political and economic evolution.
While congratulating IBB on attaining the milestone age of 84, Governor Bago prayed for Allah’s continuous blessings, good health, and wisdom for the celebrant to keep offering valuable counsel to the nation.
