Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago has given contractors handling some of the local government road projects June 2025 as deadline to complete the projects.
The Governor gave the directive during an interactive session with contractors handling road projects at the Council Chamber, Government House Minna.
Governor Umaru Bago equally made it clear that contractors who fail to meet up with contract specifications will have their contracts revoked while calling on those delaying the execution of the projects to speed up work to ensure timely completion of the project
He commended the contractors that have fully executed their road projects including those doing remarkably well in executing other major projects as the State Government will not compromise in its developmental strides for the State.
Governor Umaru Bago disclosed to the contractors that his decision to stop the Certificate of Valuation of some of the contractors in the bank is because, he is not satisfied with their level of work while those who have been performing excellently will be paid immediately.
The Governor also directed the Commissioner for finance Lawal Maikano to liquidate all the money tied down to the Advanced Payment Guarantee APG to enable contractors have access to funds for project execution and warned contractors to be responsible and ensure that they complete some of the road projects at the stipulated time
He equally informed contractors having payment and security issues to report to him directly for prompt response saying,his administration intends to embark on the second phase of the urban renewal project in no distant future.
The Governor also advised the Ministry of works and New Niger Development Project to initiate community engagement where they will be getting first hand information about the ongoing projects across the state.
The event was interactive as contractors enumerated some challenges faced but re assured the Governor of their willingness to deliver the project as scheduled.
