Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago has inaugurated the newly built Annoor Jumma’at Mosque Government House situated at the Justice Idris Legbo Kutigi International Conference Center Minna.
Governor Umaru Bago who described the inauguration of the Mosque as historical explained that the hosting ofJumma’at Mosque inside the Government House has not been convenient for some people and because it was build for the cause of serving Allah, it should be made available for everybody to use hence its relocation.
He encouraged Muslims to be united adding that the Annoor Mosque is a Government facility that will accommodate all sects of Islam as a tool for promoting unity.
The Governor also disclosed that similar Mosque will be constructed in major towns of the State.
Governor Umaru Bago used the medium to remind citizens that the State Government is doling out food items that will be sold at 50% including those that will be given out free during the Ramadan season with Committees already set for its implementation.
Etsu Nupe and Chairman Niger State Council of Traditional Rulers ,Yahaya Abubakar represented by the Emir of Agaie, Yusuf Nuhu described the Governor’s idea of constructing the new Mosque as highly commendable and used the forum to remind Muslims on the need to always look out for each other.
The Director General, Bureau for Religious affairs, Mal. Umar Faruk Abdullahi in his remarks said the efforts of Governor Umaru Bago in the propagation of Islam is remarkable adding that the newly built Annoor Mosque has selected scholars and leaders from different sects as an avenue to promote togetherness and strive for the growth of Islam adding that, the Mosque will be holding Ramadan tafsir.
The two unit congregational prayers was then led by the Executive Secretary, Niger State Pilgrims welfare Board, Sheikh Muhammad Awwal Aliyu who before then in his Jumma’at sermon reminded Muslims on the enormous benefits inherent in the Holy month of Ramadan encouraged Muslims to make use of the opportunity to repent and move closer to Allah in worship.
Many eminent personalities that graced the Mosque inauguration include the Niger State Deputy Governor, Comrade Yakubu Garba, Speaker Niger State House of Assembly, Abdulmalik Sarkin Daji, Emir of Kagara Ahmed Garba Gunna Attahiru II, Head of service Abubakar Sadiq Idris among others.
