Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago of Niger State mourns the House of Representatives Deputy Chief Whip and lawmaker representing Ikenne/Sagamu/Remo North Federal Constituency of Ogun State, Adewunmi Onanuga.
In a condolence message signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Bologi Ibrahim, the Governor describes the death as
a colossal loss to the entire nation.
He recounts how outspoken, passionate and committed to nation-building the deceased was.
The Governor says no doubt a huge vacuum has been created by the demise of the House Deputy Whip which only God can fill it.
He commiserates with the leadership and entire members of the 10th House of Representatives as well as the people of her constituency over the loss.
Governor Umaru Bago prays that God will repose the soul of Adewunmi Onanuga and comfort all that are affected by her demise.
The late Onanuga was first elected as a member of House of Representatives in 2019 on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), representing Ikenne/Sagamu/Remo North Federal Constituency of Ogun State, where she served as Chairperson, House Committee on Women Affairs and Social Development in the 9th Assembly.
She was re-elected in 2023, and was appointed as the Deputy Chief Whip of the 10th Assembly, a position she held until her death.
