Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago has been presented with a 5-day itinerary on Niger State @ 50 proposal tagged, “50 years of legacy, honoring our past, empowering our present, envisioning a brighter future”.
The Project Manager to the Governor, Zainab Mohammed, made the presentation to the farmer Governor and other State Executive Council members at the Government House, Minna.
She said the idea of celebrating the Golden Jubilee Anniversary, in 2026, is to honour the State’s rich history as it reaches 50 years of existence.
The Project Manager further explained that the event will showcase cultural diversity, the achievements of Niger State, inspire community engagement, promote Niger State’s resources and tourism potentials including fostering unity among the citizens.
According to the proposal, the event would feature Muslim and Christian special prayers at places of worship, a football tournament, a novelty match, School debate, poetry, and awards of scholarship to Primary and Secondary schools.
Others are concert, cultural festival, traditional dances, performances highlighting Niger State’s potentials, Book launch, documentary screening to celebrate Niger State legacy, and prestigious awards to outstanding personalities.
Responding, Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago commended the Project Manager for her ingenuity in coming up with such a proposal.
He said the Golden Jubilee celebration is imperative, and hence, he will ensure it comes to fruition.
The Governor then directed all relevant Ministries such as Tourism, Budget and Planning, Finance, Investment, Justice, Local Government, Sports, Education, Information among others to immediately swing into action for early preparations.
