Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University, Lapai, has confirmed the promotion of seven senior academic staff to the rank of Professor and sixteen others to the position of Reader (Associate Professor).
The announcement was made during the institution’s 100th Regular Senate Meeting held at the Senate Chamber, Main Campus, Lapai.
Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Mohammed Hadi Sulaiman, disclosed that the promotions were earlier ratified by the Governing Council at its 60th Regular Meeting held on Tuesday, May 27, 2025.
The newly promoted Professors include:
Dr. Shuaibu Ndagi Sayedi – Professor of Business and Finance
Dr. Adebiyi Alini Adelakun – Professor of Open Distance and e-Learning
Dr. Mohammed Ibrahim Baji – Professor of Educational Psychology
Dr. Aliyu Mohammed – Professor of Health Education (Mental and Social Health)
Dr. Olajide Muili Folaranmi – Professor of Adult and Non-Formal Education
Dr. Mathew Tersoo Tsepav – Professor of Applied Geo-Physics
Dr. James Obilikwu – Professor of Financial Economics
Those promoted to the rank of Reader include:

Dr. Hussaini Mohammed Majiya – Public Health Microbiology and Biotechnology
Dr. Adisa Mohammed Jimoh – Natural Products Chemistry
Dr. Nmadu Timothy – Human Resources Management
Dr. Muhammed Habiba Maikudi – Applied Plant Mycology
Dr. Mohammed Jiya Lakan – Extension Education and Community Development
Dr. Suleiman Yusuf Bagerei – Food Technology
Dr. Ibrahim Suleiman Kuta – Nuclear and Radiation Physics
Dr. Amuzat Aliyu – Nutritional Biochemistry/Phytomedicine
Dr. Musa Emanuel Umaru – Criminology and Security Studies
Dr. Aishat Rabiu Sani – Medical Microbiology (Bacteriology)
Dr. Yahaya Say Yadi Mohammed – Environmental Engineering
Dr. Ndanusa Babakatcha – Electronic/Communication
Dr. Usman Naji Gimba – Public Health/Parasitology
Dr. Mohammed Isah Legbo – Pharmaceutical Microbiology
Dr. Musa Usman – Local Government Administration
In a congratulatory message, the Vice Chancellor commended the newly promoted academics for their hard work and urged them to rededicate themselves to research, teaching, and community service.
He also conveyed felicitations from the Visitor to the University and Executive Governor of Niger State, Farmer Mohammed Umaru Bago, and the Honourable Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Hon. Abdullahi Adamu Mammagi, who both encouraged the scholars to contribute more meaningfully to the academic development of the institution.
