The Kebbi State Government has donated the sum of 50 million Naira to Timber Sellers’ Association, who lost their property following a fire incident.
His Excellency, Comrade Dr Nasir Idris, Kauran Gwandu had also donated N10 million as his personal donation to the victims.
Inspecting the scene of the inferno in Birnin Kebbi on Sunday, the governor sympathised with the victims and urged them to accept the will of God Almighty in good faith.
“On behalf of the State Government, we are donating the sum of N50 million to enable you recoup part of your losses,” he said.
He assured the timber marketers that government was making necessary arrangements to assist the victims to enable them recoup and continue their normal business.
“This administration under my watch will fully respond to assist those affected restart business after complete assessment of the tragedy,” he assured.
Responding, the Chairman of the Timber Sellers’ Association, Bello Dan-Sambo, thanked the governor for the visit, while expressing immense gratitude to him for his magnanimity and kind gesture.
A total of nine timber merchants are the identified victims of the fire outbreak with cumulative losses of about N191.7 million in timber and other accessories.
