The Kebbi State Governor, Comrade Dr Nasir Idris, Kauran Gwandu, has promised to ensure the provision of more social amenities to rural areas of the state to give all a sense of belonging.
He made the pledge in Government House, Birnin Kebbi while receiving a delegation from Bese District, headed by Alhaji Muhammadu Malle Usman, District Head of Dutsinmari.
The delegation were in Government House to say thank you to the governor for appointing Prof. Tijjani Mohammed Bande as District Head and Baraden Besse.
While congratulating the new district head for what he described as a well deserved appointment, the governor said: “Prof. Tijjani is somebody who always wants to uplift people.
“I can see from the calibre of people on your entourage, it implies that people of Besse are happy about Tijjani’s appointment.”
He described Tijjani as a committed person that made Kebbi State proud not only in Nigeria but across the globe, saying, “I am the most happiest person, having somebody like Prof. Tijjani holding traditional institution position during my tenure as governor.”
Gov. Idris promised to look into the requests presented to him by the district head of Dutsinmari, promising that road from Koko-Besse to Zaria Kalakala would soon be constructed.
According to him, the local government will also enjoy construction of schools and other social amenities.
Earlier, Alhaji Muhammadu Malle Usman, the district head of Dutsinmari observed that “Prof. Tijjani Bande is a known person to all, because he is a man of struggle and commitment not only for himself but for others.”
Malle-Usaman said the appointment was well deserved, assuring that all others who contested for the position were also fit but Tijjani was more fit.
Commending the governor for his democratic approach to the issue, the district head said: “you have given us a free hand to select those we felt they were fit for the position and you made the final choice.
“What you have done was nothing but a mere sense of justice.
You have the power to appoint whoever you wanted but you gave us the opportunity to select three people and send to you.”
The district head then requested for access roads, employment opportunities as well as education development in the local government.
Also speaking, Prof. Abubakar Abdullahi-Bagudo said: “We are here on behalf of the entire people of Bese following the appointment of Prof. Tijjani Mohammed Bande as District Head of Bese.
“This tittle given to him is far better than all other positions he held, including the Director General, National Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru and President, United Nations General Assembly.
“Tijjani is a humble, dedicated, and nice gentleman. He is a man who sacrifice his life to the service of humanity.
“I want to assure you that Tijjani will ensure justice and equity in the discharge of his responsibility.”
